En moyenne, 17&nbsp;% du carbone fix\u00e9 par la plante sont rhizod\u00e9pos\u00e9s dans le sol. Mais on peut monter \u00e0 50&nbsp;% chez les plantes prairiales. La rhizod\u00e9position de l\u2019azote est quant \u00e0 elle estim\u00e9e entre 4 et 71&nbsp;% du N total assimil\u00e9 par la plante. Avec une m\u00e9diane de 16&nbsp;% chez les Fabac\u00e9es et 14&nbsp;% chez les c\u00e9r\u00e9ales. L\u2019\u00e9tude de la rhizod\u00e9position montre toute la <strong>complexit\u00e9 de la compr\u00e9hension de ce processus et des facteurs qui peuvent la moduler avec en premier lieu l\u2019esp\u00e8ce<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>L\u2019exsudation dans la rhizosph\u00e8re est fortement li\u00e9e : <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00e0 la <strong>photosynth\u00e8se<\/strong>, <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00e0 l\u2019<strong>allocation de ressources<\/strong> dans les diff\u00e9rents compartiments <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>et aux <strong>traits morphologiques<\/strong> notamment racinaires des plantes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Par exemple, les racines les plus fines et longues semblent exsuder plus de carbone que les racines pr\u00e9sentant des diam\u00e8tres plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s. Enfin, les esp\u00e8ces de prairie pr\u00e9sentent une plus grande allocation de C au compartiment souterrain (33&nbsp;% du C total net fix\u00e9) par rapport aux esp\u00e8ces de grandes cultures (21&nbsp;% du C total net fix\u00e9). Ce qui peut expliquer une rhizod\u00e9position plus importante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-ast-global-color-5-color has-ast-global-color-0-background-color has-text-color has-background\">La rhizod\u00e9position de l\u2019azote et du carbone par les plantes est reconnue comme l\u2019un des <strong>facteurs du d\u00e9terminisme des communaut\u00e9s microbiennes du sol<\/strong>. Ces microorganismes, acteurs essentiels des processus et cycles biog\u00e9ochimiques dans le sol, vont en effet transformer ces rhizod\u00e9p\u00f4ts. Et moduler la disponibilit\u00e9 des nutriments dans le sol via leurs activit\u00e9s enzymatiques. La meilleure compr\u00e9hension de ce d\u00e9terminisme est une voie de recherche importante dans la mise au point de syst\u00e8mes de production agro\u00e9cologiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Processus de rhizod\u00e9position du carbone et de l\u2019azote<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>La rhizosph\u00e8re, lieu de la rhizod\u00e9position<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Les syst\u00e8mes racinaires des plantes jouent un r\u00f4le essentiel dans la croissance et la nutrition des plantes. Via leur fonction de pr\u00e9l\u00e8vement de min\u00e9raux \u00e0 partir du sol. En plus de leur capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 absorber des min\u00e9raux et de stocker des compos\u00e9s chimiques biologiquement actifs, les racines lib\u00e8rent \u00e9galement diff\u00e9rents types de compos\u00e9s dans la rhizosph\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">La rhizosph\u00e8re se d\u00e9finit comme le volume de sol sous l\u2019influence et en contact direct avec les racines d\u2019une plante en croissance. Elle constitue ainsi une zone d\u2019interaction entre la plante et les microorganismes du sol. La <strong>rhizosph\u00e8re est une zone de sol particuli\u00e8rement importante<\/strong>. C\u2019est un hotspot o\u00f9 l\u2019activit\u00e9 microbienne est de 2 \u00e0 20 fois sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle d\u2019un sol non influenc\u00e9 par l\u2019activit\u00e9 racinaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>D\u00e9finition de la rhizod\u00e9position<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">La rhizod\u00e9position se d\u00e9finit d\u2019abord comme l\u2019<strong>\u00e9mission de carbone (C) organique par les racines<\/strong>. Cela inclut l\u2019exsudation, les lysats cellulaires, les d\u00e9bris racinaires et les cellules de bordure. Mais les racines lib\u00e8rent en plus du C des compos\u00e9s min\u00e9raux et en particulier des compos\u00e9s azot\u00e9s. Ainsi, la rhizod\u00e9position au sens large se d\u00e9finit comme \u00ab la lib\u00e9ration de toutes sortes de compos\u00e9s par les racines d\u2019une plante vivante, y compris les ions et les compos\u00e9s volatiles&nbsp;\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On peut subdiviser ce processus en deux parties :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Les <strong>compos\u00e9s provenant de racines vivantes<\/strong> (tissus et cellules). On a notamment l\u2019exsudation racinaire avec s\u00e9cr\u00e9tion d\u2019ions, d\u2019enzymes, de mucilage et une large gamme de m\u00e9tabolites primaires et secondaires.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Les <strong>compos\u00e9s provenant des r\u00e9sidus des tissus racinaires<\/strong>. On retrouve des fragments racinaires avec notamment la s\u00e9nescence des tissus racinaires et des cellules de bordure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rhizod\u00e9position du carbone<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Par fixation et transformation du CO<sub>2<\/sub> atmosph\u00e9rique en compos\u00e9s organiques, les plantes contribuent \u00e0 l\u2019augmentation du stock de C organique du sol. Cet apport r\u00e9sulte de la d\u00e9composition des r\u00e9sidus de tissus v\u00e9g\u00e9taux et de la rhizod\u00e9position. En moyenne, 17&nbsp;% du C fix\u00e9 par la plante sont rhizod\u00e9pos\u00e9s dans le sol . Mais on peut monter \u00e0 50&nbsp;% chez les plantes prairiales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\"><strong>Le C issu de l\u2019exsudation serait 10 \u00e0 100 fois plus important par rapport au C provenant des cellules bordantes et des mucilages<\/strong>. Les compos\u00e9s solubles exsud\u00e9s (majoritairement des sucres, des acides organiques et des acides amin\u00e9s) contribueraient quant \u00e0 eux de 1 \u00e0 10&nbsp;% au flux total de&nbsp;C. Cette source de&nbsp;C est rapidement consomm\u00e9e par les microorganismes et environ un tiers du C rhizod\u00e9pos\u00e9 contribue \u00e0 la biomasse microbienne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rhizod\u00e9position de l\u2019azote<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">La rhizod\u00e9position de l\u2019azote suit les m\u00eames voies que le C. Cela inclue ainsi la senescence racinaire et l\u2019exsudation de compos\u00e9s solubles. L\u2019exsudation de compos\u00e9s N solubles est constitu\u00e9e de 6 \u00e0 31&nbsp;% d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments comme le NO<sub>3<sup>&#8211;<\/sup><\/sub>, le NH<sub>4<sup>+<\/sup><\/sub> et les acides amin\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">La quantit\u00e9 d\u2019N rhizod\u00e9pos\u00e9 et la composition des exsudats en N varient \u00e9galement en fonction des esp\u00e8ces. Ainsi, les esp\u00e8ces de Fabac\u00e9es pr\u00e9sentent des exsudats racinaires plus riches en NH<sub>4<sup>+<\/sup><\/sub> et en acides amin\u00e9s par rapport aux exsudats des autres esp\u00e8ces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Alors que <strong>les flux de C se font presque exclusivement de la plante vers le sol, les \u00e9changes d\u2019azote entre le sol et les plantes se font dans les deux sens<\/strong>. Mais surtout du sol vers la plante via l\u2019absorption de l\u2019N. La rhizod\u00e9position de l\u2019N est estim\u00e9e entre 4 et 71&nbsp;% du N total assimil\u00e9 par la plante. De nombreux travaux ont \u00e9tudi\u00e9 l\u2019effet du stade de d\u00e9veloppement sur la rhizod\u00e9position. Mais <strong>les r\u00e9sultats obtenus sont contradictoires<\/strong>. Ainsi, pour certains, plus la plante est \u00e2g\u00e9e, moins il y aurait de carbone allou\u00e9 au compartiment souterrain. D\u2019autres \u00e9tudes montrent une augmentation de la rhizod\u00e9position avec l\u2019\u00e2ge. <strong>Dans tous les cas, la composante d\u2019exsudation est particuli\u00e8rement importante chez les plantes jeunes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Effets des facteurs abiotiques sur la rhizod\u00e9position<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">La disponibilit\u00e9 en nutriments impacte \u00e9galement la rhizod\u00e9position. Des \u00e9tudes d\u00e9montrent une augmentation du C issu de la rhizod\u00e9position avec une augmentation de la fertilisation N. Cette augmentation serait li\u00e9e \u00e0 une plus forte production de biomasse racinaire et \u00e0 une plus forte exsudation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\"><strong>La concentration en CO<sub>2<\/sub>  peut \u00e9galement impacter la rhizod\u00e9position<\/strong>. En effet, certaines \u00e9tudes montrent une augmentation de la rhizod\u00e9position du C et de l\u2019N pour des plantes soumises \u00e0 des concentrations \u00e9lev\u00e9es de CO<sub>2<\/sub>. Mais elle ne diff\u00e8re pas significativement du r\u00e9sultat du pois et du tr\u00e8fle incarnat (Figure 3A). On observe la m\u00eame chose dans le sol. Concernant la r\u00e9partition du <sup>13<\/sup>C entre les diff\u00e9rents compartiments (Figure 3B), la f\u00e9verole pr\u00e9sente une r\u00e9partition plus \u00e9quilibr\u00e9e entre les tissus v\u00e9g\u00e9taux et le sol avec une proportion plus importante de <sup>13<\/sup>C dans les racines que les autres esp\u00e8ces. Enfin, pour s\u2019affranchir du poids de la photosynth\u00e8se sur l\u2019exsudation et se concentrer sur les relations possibles entre les traits racinaires et l\u2019exsudation, on exprime l\u2019exsudation du C en fonction du C total fix\u00e9 (exsudation sp\u00e9cifique (Figure 3 C)). <strong>Le tr\u00e8fle blanc a exsud\u00e9 plus de C r\u00e9cent par unit\u00e9 de C fix\u00e9 comparativement aux deux esp\u00e8ces prot\u00e9agineuses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Une rhizod\u00e9position plus forte pour les fabac\u00e9es prairiales<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\"><strong>La corr\u00e9lation positive entre la longueur sp\u00e9cifique racinaire et l\u2019exsudation sp\u00e9cifique, ainsi que la corr\u00e9lation n\u00e9gative entre le diam\u00e8tre et cette exsudation, expliquent que les plantes qui forment des racines longues et fines<\/strong>, tels que les deux tr\u00e8fles, sont celles qui exsudent le plus. Les esp\u00e8ces de prairie pr\u00e9sentent une plus grande allocation de C au compartiment souterrain (33\u00a0% du C total net fix\u00e9) par rapport aux esp\u00e8ces de grandes cultures (21\u00a0% du C total net fix\u00e9), ce qui peut expliquer une rhizod\u00e9position plus importante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img
