Il existe une grande diversit\u00e9 d\u2019am\u00e9nagements agroforestiers : alignements intra-parcellaires, haies, arbres \u00e9mond\u00e9s (trognes), arbres isol\u00e9s, bords de cours d\u2019eau (ripisylves)&#8230;. Cette technique peut aujourd\u2019hui \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme innovante. Les syst\u00e8mes agroforestiers sont pourtant ancestraux et r\u00e9pandus dans le monde entier. En Europe, les arbres \u00e9taient traditionnellement pr\u00e9sents au c\u0153ur et aux abords des parcelles. Certains syst\u00e8mes ont perdur\u00e9 : pr\u00e9-vergers, cultures intercalaires en peupleraies. Apr\u00e8s la seconde guerre mondiale et le d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019une industrie p\u00e9troli\u00e8re (\u00e9nergie, chimie&#8230;), la d\u00e9mocratisation du machinisme agricole et des produits phytosanitaires a engendr\u00e9 l\u2019arrachage syst\u00e9matique des arbres. Certains agriculteurs innovent aujourd\u2019hui et implantent de nouveaux des arbres dans<br \/>leurs syst\u00e8mes de culture.
